Im looking for a car that would be a good reliable car for day to day usage and street racing? Im looking at Max of 3 to 3500 dollars to start out, to get the car. Please let me know what you prefer for a beginners first street racing car. Remember im a noob i admit it. But i need help to keep up with my brothers Supercharged GTP Daytona 500 Thanks.
First off, I wouldn’t recommend street racing. Besides the fact that the consequences are huge if you get caught, it’s dangerous to you more importantly, other innocent people who are not engaging in the illegal activity.
Take it to the track, a local drag strip sounds like a good place for you to start and it will be a controlled environment where you know all participants are accepting the risks.
For a daily driver and drag racing, I think a good car for that price would be a 80′s to mid 90′s Mustang with a 302 V-8. Its decent but not super fast stock, but has a lot of potential and cheap to modify.
Yeah, insurance rates are more important than initial car cost. Thanks to paranoid, uninformed government officials bending over for the clueless masses, young drivers pay more for insurance, insurance is completely necessary for car ownership, AND – here’s the kicker – sports cars will cost a fortune – especially for younger drivers – to insure.
So wory about that first. Oh, and don’t street race – take it to a track. It’s legal, it’s safer, it’s amazing (Vince 23). Drag racing sucks, I know, but take a look around and you may find a track with an actual circuit.
That, or look for a road rallying club in your area. Legal once again and done at night, so there’s a low chance you’ll even SEE another car on the road.
Regardless, ask about safety regulations. Road rallying usually requires next to no safety equipment, and nothing added to your car. The track might. Ask, ask, ask.
Depends on how much your willing to spend on the car to begin with. Each price range comes with different options. I think the best values for your money out there…the 2009 Mazda 3 Speed and the Volkswagen GTI. Both are constantly rated by Car and Drive and Motortrend as best value sports cars. I have a Mazda 3 right now, but test drove the 3 speed. Its a turbo-charged 4, with 270 horses for around 27k. You cant ask more. The GTI is similar pricing, but puts out only 200hp out of its turbo 4. Depends on what you are looking to do, and how much money, but with a turbocharger, your possibilites are endless. Hope that helps.
You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – autoinsurance.noneto.com
just get some sissy looking honda with 1 of those big useless muffler extensions that make it sound real loud & that should get you started
