I am wondering whether to use a 125cc scooter for commuting 8 miles each way, mainly on a 50mph road with an incline, and on a national speed limit dual carriageway for around quarter of a mile.
Would a 125cc motorcycle be suited for this? I also live in quite a hilly area, but all the hills are 30mph limits – would a scooter be able to handle this?
Also, would using this sort of scooter use up a lot of fuel?

More speed – less average.
Mine is Bajaj Boxer 125CC. Gone to 102 KM/Hour. the average was 40K/Ltr.
The same i drove on 38 -42KM/Hour. Average was 112KM/Hr.
Usually i get 70KM/Hr
Hope this will help you a lot to understand the way mileage shown in Advertisement on TV.
Max speed of 125cc is around 95kmph… mileage around 40..
